Standard & Poor’s has cut India’s 08/09 GPD forecast from 8.1% to 7.8 % reason being high Inflation and rising interest rates.
“High interest rates, along with a slowing global economy, will trim GDP growth to 7.8 percent in 2008-09,” says Subir Gokarn, chief economist at Standard & Poor’s, Asia Pacific said.

Starting 2nd on the grid for the 15-lap race, Armaan made a storming start and shot into the lead into the 1st corner. From there on, it was a very tight race with James Grunwell and Earl Bamber on Armaan’s gearbox for the first few laps.
Armaan opened up a 2-second lead after lap 4 and managed to keep the two red cars behind him. Earl Bamber passed James and pushed Armaan for a few laps. James then passed Bamber again and the two in front moved away from Bamber a bit. Armaan would make time under braking into the corners and also through the two high speed corners, but would loose a lot of time on the straights, which allowed James to close in again and nullify the advantage Armaan gained under braking and the fast corners.
However, Armaan did not make a single mistake and kept James behind him all the way. In lap 12, James made a desperate move into corner 4, but Armaan held his line and alertly avoided a wild driving Grunwell and came out of the corner ahead. Armaan then pulled away just enough to hold his advantage until the chequered flag. In another desperate attempt on the last lap, Grunwell lunged into the corner and then out broke himself going off the track shortly. This gave enough room for Armaan to sail to the finish line as he knew the last straight would be critical due to lack of straight-line speed.
It was a very deserving win for young Armaan as the race was close for the entire 15 laps. Even more credit to the win was because Armaan is driving with a one-year-old engine and thus the lack of straight-line speed.
Armaan who qualified 2nd for the sprint race, finished 2nd in the sprint race on Saturday. After being the quickest in both practice sessions, Armaan managed a close 2nd in qualifying. Though he hounded Grunwell who won the sprint race, Armaan could not pass him, as there were not many racing laps due to two safety cars after a nasty accident involving Bamber and Charlie Charlez.
Commented Armaan: I had a perfect car and it was a perfect race. Yes, I knew that I was down on straight-line speed, but was confident enough as I had a lot more speed than Grunwell into the faster corners and under braking into the slower corners. It was just a question of not making a mistake and at the same time keep driving flat out, so that I gave them both no room at all. The team did a great job as usual and I really enjoyed a close race. I hope I can find some sponsorships that will enable me to get a fresh engine as the one I am using now is a year old and not been rebuilt.

Circuit : Magny-Cours : Number of Laps: 70 / Circuit Length: 4.411 km / Race Distance: 308.586 km
Dr. Vijay Mallya – Chairman & MD FORCE INDIA TEAM COMMENTED:
“My key focus is now to oversee the team and ensure that we don’t repeat the mistakes that have occurred in previous races. Making mistakes is alright, one has to be practical enough to understand that it happens, but what we need to do now is grow from this, move on and look to have a perfect weekend in France. ‘We are in this in business in every seriousness and I see a great future for this team and the chance of really making a splash in 2009 when the regulations change. To do so, and guarantee this future, we now need to concentrate on doing the best job we can right here, right now. As I have said before, at the end of the day every race to me, and hopefully my team, is a learning experience.”
